Here's what some of our volunteers say:

Caitlynne – “I volunteer at the shelter because all animals, whether they have a home or not, deserve a good meal and fresh water and love no matter what!”
Angie – “I stumbled upon a cat that seemed to have been lost or needed a home.    I brought him to Wet Nose and I right away realized this is the perfect place for me!  Walking through the shelter and seeing the cat stick their paws out for attention and seeing all the happy dogs wagging their tails for extra love really tugs at the soul.  My biggest weakness is the animals that come in horrible condition.  Nothing brings greater joy than seeing the sick ones get better day by day and seeing them find their loving homes. I volunteer at Wet Nose to be there for the animals as much as they are there for me.  (Did you know spending time with animals reduces stress and improves your mood?)“
Janet – “As a recent retiree, volunteering at Wet-Nose Rescue has given me a new life focus. By using my fundraising and marketing experience, it gives me great pleasure to assist Wet-Nose Rescue in securing financial resources and supplies needed to operate. I enjoy working with the business community and individuals who also value the services our young shelter provides to Le Mars and the surrounding area.”
Janelle – “My children and I volunteer at the shelter because we enjoy giving special care and love to the fur babies.  I love meeting each of their personalities whether they are wild or tamed! No animal should ever be left abandoned or forgotten. The fact that Wet Nose is there to provide help and comfort, well that just says it all.  If you’re ready to find a four legged cutie you need to go to Wet Nose.  We have so many amazing animals for you to visit!  Both DOGS AND CATS!”
R&A – “We have empathy for the animals who are in need.”

Geri – “I became a volunteer December 2023.  I had taken four 8-week old kittens to the shelter as it was too cold for them outside.  I wanted to help with their care, so I spent some time with next few days at the shelter.   Being there showed me how much time it takes to properly care for the animals.  It was then that I decided to make time, once a week for the shelter.  I still work, still volunteer at our Plymouth County Fair, and make Quilts of Valor for our local veterans.  But I made time I picked Sunday morning every week for 4 hours feeding, cleaning kennels, doing dishes, mopping, vacuuming, restocking, and laundry. The most important aspect of time spent there is the love received in return for the love given from all the animals. The purrs, the hugs, the kisses.  It puts a smile on my face and a calm in my heart spending fun time with the animals.  A ‘thank you’ meow or a tail wag is all I know.  ‘This is a good thing!”
